Maui Trip Part 1

Oh let's see, where to begin. Well, let's start with Day 1 of the Maui trip. Cat and I took half her severance pay and booked a 9 day trip back to our favorite hotel on Maui (honestly it's the only hotel we've ever been to). On November 4th we departed SeaTac Airport for San Francisco, before bouncing to Honolulu, and killing 3 hours there before the 30min flight to Maui. No kidding, the flight from Honolulu to Maui is litterally up and right back down, no time spent at cruising altitude. We landed, luggage was all set as there was a slight delay in Honolulu, then we got our Budget rent a car and drove to the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel (KBH).

For those who have never been to Maui, here is where the airport (A) and KBH (B) are.

We got in pretty late so had a nice dinner at the Tiki Terrace (hotel restaurant) which was meh, to say the best. END DAY 1

Onto Day 2, we pretty much did nothing for the entire day. We had breakfast buffet at the Tiki Terrace (included in the room), sat by the pool reading and drinking mai-tais. The weather for the 8 days we are on island is pretty much the same, sunny, 85 degrees, and some scattered rain in the afternoons on occasion. In other words it was spectacular. That afternoon we drove back into town to buy supplies from Costco as I realized I had no swim trunks, and we needed lunch foods to cut down on the cost of the trip. For those who have never been to Hawaii the food mark-up is the biggest cost overrun I find. On average the mark-up is around 30% and can hit you pretty hard if you aren't ready for it. That evening we went to our favorite Chinese place (China Bowl) where the food is delicious and it's pretty cheap. END DAY 2
